PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Director of Donor Relations manages the Community Foundation’s contact and stewardship of its current fund holders. This position implements a comprehensive donor relations program; assists all staff at the Community Foundation to develop a coordinated approach to fund holders; and works to meet the long and short term needs of the Community Foundation’s donor relation goals. The Director of Donor Relations also develops a comprehensive planned giving program in addition to identifying key planned giving prospects and cultivation of current planned gift donors. This position works to develop and implement requests with current fund holders for the benefit of the Better Together Fund. Key strategies of the position include: identify donor’s charitable giving goals and needs; develop services for donors designed to promote strategic giving, family philanthropy and donor-leveraged grantmaking; facilitate organizational response to donor inquiries and concerns; strengthen current relationships; and, cultivation of donor interests in the Community Foundation and encourage donors to support those needs which are in concert with their philanthropic interests and increases the Community Foundation’s discretionary grantmaking capacity.

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in development, donor cultivation, gift planning or related field required. Prior development or customer relations experience strongly preferred. Proven ability to interact comfortably with a broad spectrum of donors, community leaders, nonprofit representatives and community volunteers is required. Must be able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and work both independently and in a team environment.
