KISS Kits - Keeping Iowans Sexually Savvy

Project Description

The Family Planning Council of Iowa mails K.I.S.S. (Keeping Iowans Sexually Savvy) Kits, aka Reproductive Health Kits to Iowans requesting one, including residents in Central Iowa. The kits include supplies related to sexual and reproductive health and are customized based on what each person needs; individuals can select up to two doses of emergency contraception, condoms, pregnancy test strips, etc. A small info booklet is also included to help navigate sexual and reproductive health decisions.

The organization also distributes kits at events, through a network of Title X family planning clinics, and via partner organizations in Greater Des Moines. While they are able to source in-kind donations for some of the supplies, there are still costs such as postage (~$6 per kit), printing the custom booklets (~$1 per booklet), pregnancy test strips ($30 per 100), and more. 

As sexual and reproductive health supplies and information become increasingly difficult to access, the Family Planning Council of Iowa believes it is important to offer these resources for free to as many Central Iowans as possible.
