80/35 Music Festival

Each year since July of 2008 over 30,000 live music lovers gathered in downtown Des Moines' Western Gateway Park as over 40 bands let loose on four different stages.

A Leadership Grant from the Community Foundation helped make it all happen.

80/35 Project Manager Amedeo Rossi said, "It was just an incredible weekend for music, and the event was very well received by the community."

While most of the concert goers came from the Des Moines area, more than 20 percent of ticket purchasers traveled from other states to see the headlining bands.

Spectator Tim Gass from Des Moines said, "80/35 did something really great for

Des Moines and was one of the best music experiences I've ever had. The setup was great for each stage, the lineup was awesome and everything ran smoothly."

The 80/35 Music Festival was created to support a vibrant culture, with the realization that music has the power to bring people together and revitalize communities.

Amedeo said, "The grant from the Community Foundation allowed us to take the event to the next level, attract bands and make ticket prices more affordable. Their initial support encouraged others to get behind the project too."
