Update on Continued Operations

Mar. 18, 2020

As our state continues to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to update our valued partners about actions the Community Foundation is taking as we seek to be better together during this time.

We are working proactively to:

Protect the health and safety of our staff. The Community Foundation’s office will be closed to the public, effective Thursday, March 19 as we evaluate the ever-changing situation. While our physical space will be closed, our full team will continue to serve our donors and community.

What does this mean?
• You can continue to reach our team members via their office phone numbers and email.
• We will continue to process contributions to charitable giving funds and grant requests.
• Meetings and nonprofit trainings will be held as video or teleconferences.

Fulfill our mission in our community.
We exist to serve our community, especially during times of critical need. On behalf of Greater Des Moines, the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines has activated the Disaster Recovery Fund. As our community and its most vulnerable populations are facing the effects of COVID-19, the Disaster Recovery Fund provides an opportunity for the public to give with the reassurance their donations will be used to quickly move resources to where they are most needed and to adapt to evolving needs. The flexibility of the fund will ensure that the community will be able to respond to needs that are not being met by existing non-profit, local, state and federal programs. To learn more about the Disaster Recovery Fund or to make a contribution by credit card, visit www.desmoinesfoundation.org/disasterfund. We will also continue to keep www.GIVEdsm.org updated with nonprofit needs in Greater Des Moines.

We are deeply grateful for your partnership, especially in challenging times. Thank you for making our community not only better together, but better forever.
