Tips and Tricks for Getting the Most Out of GIVEdsm

Oct. 31, 2023

One of the many tools the Community Foundation offers to support our passionate local nonprofit community is the GIVEdsm platform. From program support to capital campaigns and time-sensitive needs, GIVEdsm allows you to share your funding opportunities with the community.

As Giving Tuesday and year-end approach, now is the perfect time to get acquainted with the platform. If you do not already have a profile, visit GIVEdsm.org and click on ABOUT GIVEDSM to get started. Once you have a profile, read on for some tips and tricks to help you get the most out of GIVEdsm.

Submit your profile and projects early

Don’t wait! Set up your profile and submit your projects now so you’ll be ready for a big year-end push. Don’t forget, your organization can have multiple needs on GIVEdsm, so include any projects for which you are seeking support, including general operations!

Upload an eye-catching image

Help your project stand out! Using an image that accurately represents your project and grabs users‘ attention will draw them to your listing. The recommended size for project photos is 700 x 525 pixels.

Make use of category and campaign type tags

Users of the site can sort by giving category and campaign type, so take the time to tag your projects. This will allow those most passionate about your cause to find you even easier!

Update your fundraising thermometer

This is the only way for users to see the progress of your campaign. Make sure to log in and update the Amount Given to Date with the amount raised from all sources to help build excitement and momentum!

Promote! Promote! Promote!

Your project deserves attention! Make use of our GIVEdsm marketing toolkit and promote your project to your audience to maximize the effectiveness of your campaign.

Our team is here to help as you use GIVEdsm to connect with our generous community of givers. Don't hesitate to reach out to Sarah at cahill@desmoinesfoundation.org if you have any questions or need assistance!
