Project Description
Grace For Addictions (GFA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by addiction and mental health challenges. While our virtual services extend across the United States, the increasing need within Iowa & the Greater Des Moines community highlights the urgent necessity for localized resources.
The Recovery & Renewal Project is a dynamic initiative dedicated to guiding individuals through recovery and transformation by providing life coaching, recovery coaching, peer-to-peer mental health support, and harm reduction resources grounded in grace, compassion, and ongoing support.
The Recovery & Renewal Project:
1. A Recovery Community Center to provide comprehensive resources, peer support, and programming for those in various stages of recovery.
2. A Recovery House for individuals transitioning from addiction treatment, homelessness, or incarceration to independent living.
The project focuses on:
• Age: Primarily adults aged 18-45.
• Background: Individuals with a history of addiction, trauma, or mental health challenges.
• Underserved Communities: Low-income individuals, those with criminal histories, and individuals from marginalized backgrounds.
The Recovery & Renewal Project will serve approximately 200+ individuals by:
- Providing transitional housing for 15–20 individuals annually, including those coming out of incarceration and homelessness.
- Hosting over 200 workshops and support groups in the first year of operation.
- Partnering with organizations like Change Course and the Iowa Homeless Youth Center to amplify impact.
- Reducing the risk of relapse by offering consistent peer and professional support.
- Empowering individuals to reintegrate into the workforce and community.
Many whom we serve lack access to affordable, nonjudgmental recovery and mental health services. These individuals often face systemic barriers, such as poverty, stigma, and limited resources, which hinder their ability to heal and thrive.
Grace For Addictions is uniquely positioned to address these gaps due to our established relationships with individuals and families in need, as well as our approach to recovery support, helping individuals heal from trauma, find purpose, and rebuild their lives.
Additionally, The Recovery & Renewal Project addresses these disparities by offering free services designed to promote resiliency and a chance at recovery.
The R&R Project aligns with the following focus areas:
- Community Betterment: Fostering inclusive community development by addressing the inequities faced by individuals recovering from addiction or incarceration.
- Education: Providing workshops on life skills, career readiness, and financial literacy to equip individuals with tools for sustainable recovery.
- Health: Enhancing access to mental health and addiction recovery services, particularly for populations facing systemic barriers to care.
- Social Capital: Empowering community voices through peer support networks and recovery advocacy initiatives, ensuring diverse perspectives shape our programming.
- Strengthening Individuals & Families: Connecting vulnerable individuals with supportive housing and resources while addressing mental health challenges and homelessness.
