Latina Leadership Initiative Leadership Program

Goal: $20,000
Giving Type: General Support

Project Description

Established in 2013, the Latina Leadership Initiative of Greater Des Moines (LLI) addresses the underrepresentation of Latinas in leadership positions within Iowa. LLI delivers a comprehensive, annual five-month program, guiding participants through a 12-session leadership training, personalized mentorship, and collaborative community projects with a local nonprofit aimed at supporting vulnerable children and families in Central Iowa. Tailored towards low-income and first-generation Latina women, the culturally focused curriculum transformers leadership skills and workforce readiness. The objective is clear: empower participants to secure leadership roles locally and nationally. By addressing the unique challenges faced by this demographic, the initiative not only supports personal and professional development but also contributes meaningfully to local communities. With a commitment to fostering change, LLI strives to amplify the presence and impact of emerging Latina leaders in Iowa.
