EveryStep’s Healthy Homes Iowa program delivers home assessments, hazard remediation, and child safety education to vulnerable families in the Des Moines metro. By preventing injuries—such as falls, burns, and poisoning—and addressing environmental triggers like mold, pests, and poor ventilation, the program helps reduce asthma attacks and emergency visits while improving long-term child health. Trained home visitors provide healthy housing education, cleaning and safety supplies, and connections to resources for safety items like smoke and CO alarms and low-cost repairs. Charitable support is vital to sustain and scale this high-impact work, creating safer, healthier homes for families in our community.
