Project Description
The Central Iowa Center for Independent Living (CICIL) needs your help to raise $75,000 to relocate our CICIL Connection Center to a safe, fully accessible home.
CICIL is one of six 501(c)(3) nonprofit Centers for Independent Living in Iowa, designed and operated by people with disabilities. Our mission is to promote independence, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all.
Right now, our Connection Center is located in a basement—a space that poses serious safety concerns and creates barriers for people with disabilities. Entrances, restrooms, and emergency exits are not fully accessible, making it difficult and sometimes unsafe for individuals to fully participate in programs and services. Since October 2022, the Connection Center has served as a vital peer support drop-in space where adults with disabilities can connect with others, attend free support groups, take peer-led classes, and enjoy recreational activities. We welcome people regardless of income, disability severity, insurance status, or other eligibility barriers—because everyone deserves a place to belong.
With your support, we can relocate the CICIL Connection Center to a building that finally matches our mission: a safe, accessible space where people with disabilities can grow, connect, and thrive. Together, we can build not just access—but a stronger, more connected community.
