BWA Foundation Fund
For more than 90 years the BWA Foundation, formerly known as the Business Women's Association, provided a home for more than 8,000 young women from small Iowa communities arriving in Des Moines to find work. The home was sold in 1980 and years later, using the proceeds from the sale, BWA established a charitable fund at the Community Foundation.
The BWA Foundation has granted more than $1 million to positively impact lives of women and children in Polk County.
"We believe you have a responsibility to give back if you are able. There are so many worthy organizations, and the BWA is really pleased to be able to support many of them. We are very happy with the way the Community Foundation manages our fund and helps us achieve our goal of making a difference in the community," said Janie Wine of the BWA Foundation.
