Project Description

YouthWorks is a training program, a high school course, and a job all rolled into one.
YouthWorks empowers high school students to succeed in the professional world with training, mentoring, and a paid internship. Students can enter into the professional world before even leaving high school, gaining confidence, work experience, and networks that are invaluable for success in their post-secondary journeys.
Students apply for the program their junior year of high school and if accepted start the fall of their senior year with a six-week training course focused on work skills, life skills, and professionalism. The training is grounded in the book You Are Enough, by Tony Wilson and based on our Cultivating Careers program that is Project IOWA’s foundational program.
It is clear from the data* that students, the community, and the economy benefit from work-based learning programs such as YouthWorks.
