Project Description
All are welcome. All are cherished. All are equal. All deserve a chance to live a dignified life. If you believe Iowa must reflect these founding U.S. principles, our newly arrived refugee neighbors and immigrant families need your support. The Des Moines field office of the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI Des Moines) is seeking financial support to maintain core programming to rebuild the lives of those fleeing war and persecution. In fiscal year 2024 alone, USCRI Des Moines welcomed or served over 1500 new Iowans. Your contribution will ensure we can continue to meet uncertainty with hope, and opportunity with innovation.
USCRI Des Moines provides a comprehensive set of services for newly arrived refugees and their families, including housing placement, cultural orientation, school enrollment, healthcare coordination, and employment preparation and placement. At USCRI Des Moines, new Iowans, immigrants and their families also have continued access to critical services like coordinated health services and mental health counseling, low-cost, professional legal representation, and English language classes.
