Connecting Kids and Culture

Arts and cultural organizations have long observed that fewer classes are visiting during the school year. Dwindling budgets and curriculum requirements present obstacles to providing meaningful field experiences for students.  Connecting Kids and Culture addresses both issues.

This innovative program provides funding for admission fees and transportation to educational experiences outside the classroom and provides opportunities for educators to bring local arts and cultural experiences into their schools, while directly aligning community-based arts and cultural learning to core curriculum objectives.  Through Connecting Kids and Culture over 45,000 kindergarten through fifth grade students in Dallas, Polk and Warren counties have the opportunity to enjoy local, cultural experiences.

The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines and Bravo Greater Des Moines fund the Connecting Kids and Culture program with proceeds from The Principal Charity Classic.  This program provides cultural experiences for over 45,000 students in Polk, Dallas and Warren counties.
