Visionary community leaders form giving circle: Charlotte and Fred Hubbell join as newest members

Jan. 3, 2011

Charlotte and Fred Hubbell are demonstrating their commitment to Greater Des Moines by joining the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines Leadership Circle, a group comprised of donors who have created a substantial endowment that supports projects or causes that provide long-term community impact and address the most critical needs in Greater Des Moines.

"The Community Foundation is a leader in improving quality of life and is uniquely positioned to respond to community needs now and in the future," Charlotte and Fred Hubbell said. "The most beneficial dollars for the Community Foundation are those that provide flexibility to address emerging needs. Joining the Leadership Circle allows us to support this work and our community well into the future."

Leadership Circle donors pledge $2 million through initial contributions and deferred gifts. Backed by its funding ability, the Leadership Circle provides grants to projects that provide significant community enhancements. The circle recently funded the Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families and the Des Moines Public Charter School.

"Charlotte and Fred have a history of supporting our community and their participation in the Leadership Circle furthers their legacy of giving," Kristi Knous, vice president of the Community Foundation, said. "The Leadership Circle provides a unique model to leverage gifts and increase community impact."

Leadership Circle Members Include: Sunnie Richer & Roger Brooks, Suzie Glazer Burt, Patty & Jim Cownie, Michele & Barry Griswell, Charlotte & Fred S. Hubbell, Sharon & Kyle J. Krause, Jill & Mark Oman and Emily & Fred Weitz
