Marshall County Community Foundation Affiliates with Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines

Dec. 20, 2013

The board of directors of the Community Foundation of Marshall County (CFMC) and the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines announce the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines will now serve as the host for the Community Foundation of Marshall County. The CFMC is a local foundation established for the purposes of awarding grants to nonprofit organizations serving Marshall County and to serve as a partner with individuals, families and organizations to easily create permanent endowments.

"We are pleased to announce we will be affiliating with the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines" states Heidi Pierson, Marshall County board co-chair. Val Ruff, also board co-chair, adds "The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines is a very strong foundation working with 30 other county affiliates, providing tremendous support for their local efforts. This affiliation will allow us greater ability to grow locally."

The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines is the largest community foundation in Iowa with $285 million in assets under management and 1,162 charitable funds. Affiliating with the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines provides Marshall County endowments the benefit of being included in a larger investment pool to maximize returns on charitable investments and thus increasing grant making capabilities.

Kristi Knous, president of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, says "We are very excited to work with the Community Foundation of Marshall County and support them as they provide valuable services and support to the county they serve. Their work has amazing community impact and establishes a legacy benefiting generations to come."
