GIVEdsm revamped to make giving back easier as surge in local nonprofit needs continues
Nov. 30, 2020
The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines has enhanced its online giving platform, GIVEdsm.org, to make more connections between our generous community members and nonprofits in need of support. As local nonprofit organizations have stepped up to meet an increased need in services or have pivoted their planned programming during these challenging times, GIVEdsm serves as a one-stop-shop to learn about the many opportunities to give back in Greater Des Moines.
Since its launch in 2018, GIVEdsm has served as a platform for nonprofits to list current projects in need of support while providing community members the opportunity to filter available projects based on giving categories. New enhancements to the platform include:
A redesign to improve search functions and simplify site navigation.
Individual pages for each project where donors can learn more about the need, the organization and see how much has already been raised.
The ability to make a gift using a credit card or a Community Foundation charitable giving fund.
As the many generous individuals who call Greater Des Moines home prepare for Giving Tuesday on December 1 and opportunities to give back during the holiday season, they can search GIVEdsm by giving categories such as Education, Health, Arts and Culture, Human Services, Disaster Relief and more. Giving opportunities can also be sorted by funding type to identify which listings are ongoing needs, programs in search of timely support or capital campaigns.
Improvements to the site come as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been felt across our community and the number of GIVEdsm visitors has more than doubled in 2020.
“It is our privilege to hear stories of the incredible work being done by our nonprofit community, thanks to all who give to support their critical work,” shares Kristi Knous, Community Foundation president. “GIVEdsm is an opportunity to spread the joy of giving back throughout Greater Des Moines in a way that serves all the nonprofits improving quality of life for all. It is our hope that GIVEdsm provides an avenue for the community we love to continue moving forward together during not only these trying times, but for many years to come.”
