Better Together

Aug. 29, 2017

As Community Youth Concepts (CYC) prepares for our 10th anniversary in 2018, we reflect on our accomplishments and look ahead to an exciting future. As we invest in the future of the metro through the young people we serve, CYC is thankful for the expertise of the Community Foundation in helping us to grow sustainable support for our organization through their investment and administration of our organizational endowment. This sustainable support is important as our impact is growing. Since opening our endowment at the Community Foundation in 2009, we have grown in the number of students we reach. In 2016, CYC students completed a record number of 33,000 hours of service and we continuously see these youth becoming more involved in our community through service and philanthropy.

In the 2017-2018 school year, we’re excited to launch our Youth Executive Council. Students elected to serve on this Council will receive training in areas such as facilitation, marketing and communication, advocacy, and evaluation. These students are expected to be part of community planning efforts dedicated to community betterment and will serve as a conduit back to other youth. Just as the Community Foundation seeks to improve the quality of life for all through charitable giving and community leadership, we look forward to inspiring the next generation to get involved and give back. Because, like the Community Foundation, we believe we are all better together.
