When Band-Aids Won't Heal: Our Community's Mental Health Crisis for Children
Thursday, June 22 from 11:30 - 1 p.m.
Orchard Place Child Guidance Center, 808 5th Avenue in Des Moines
Lunch provided and guests are invited to join you.
When a child falls or has a fever, parents and caregivers can seek care by calling a nurse, visiting an urgent care clinic or even taking a trip to the emergency room. When a child experiences a mental health crisis, appropriate options for support do not exist in our community. One in four youth will experience a serious emotional disturbance. Together we all face a serious healthcare crisis.
Through the Children's Mental Health Crisis Services Planning Initiative, more than 25 partnering organizations participated in a community planning effort to support children and families when a mental health crisis occurs. Join us for a panel discussion to learn more about the state of children's mental health services as well as strategies identified as first steps toward a solution for our kids.
