New Series: Strategizing through a Long-Term Crisis

July 15, 2020 @ 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM
Zoom online platform

During a long-term crisis, nonprofit organizations must be able to see different "altitudes ," (or perspectives) and simultaneously plan for the short, medium, and long terms. As we transition into our fourth month of COVID-19 response in a climate of increased urgency around racial justice, organizations are once again challenged to merge rapid-responses with strategic action to address needs in our community. The balance of action and planning in the context of constant change can seem daunting but is necessary.

Nico Chin, Founder of Up with Community, will share a framework for approaching strategic questions to help your team move between these altitudes while foregrounding justice –particularly as the most marginalized communities are most impacted by crises. A nationally recognized consultant with experience incorporating race equity principles into strategic thinking, Chin will facilitate a three-part series with our local nonprofit community:

• July 15: Introduction to the Strategic Thinking in a Long-Term Crisis framework with Q&A
• July 22: Breakout sessions on Altitudes and Implementation
• July 29: Responsive workshop on moving the framework into action

All sessions will be held from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesdays via Zoom. Participants will explore questions and practices presented in the framework, consider their “natural altitude” and how it relates to perspectives of other team members, and develop plans for putting strategy into action.

Registrants are encouraged to attend all sessions, if possible. Presentations will be recorded and follow-up materials distributed to all registrants.
