Strategic Plan Goals 2007 - 2011

The Community Foundation’s Board of Directors adopted a new strategic plan to lead its work through 2011. The Board’s vision includes reaching these key goals:

 

The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines:


·        Is well known and respected throughout the community as:

·        a leader in building social capital, convening stakeholders around community issues, and supporting opportunities to build connections;

·        a primary player in community visioning and planning;

·        a catalyst for community betterment;

·        a promoter of philanthropy and an expert resource for individuals, families, corporate donors and organizations seeking guidance to achieve their charitable giving goals;

·        a definitive leader in community philanthropic giving and planning; 

·        a leader in grantmaking for community impact and building the capacity of the nonprofit sector; and,

·        a resource to elevate the understanding of community needs.

 

·        Has assets of $400 million, including unrestricted endowments totaling $50 million.  In addition the Community Foundation will have deferred gifts of unrestricted endowment of $100 million.

 

·        Has a Board comprised of diverse community and philanthropic leaders who are dedicated to and actively involved in achieving the Community Foundation’s mission.

 

·        Operates with the infrastructure needed to support and enhance the Board’s activities as well as carry out its mission.

 

·        Has successful fund development efforts which include multiple strategies for fundraising and planned giving, with an emphasis on growth of unrestricted endowments.

 

·        Utilizes grantmaking as a catalyst for achieving significant, measurable community impact.  Leads efforts to leverage funds and relationships to advance community priorities.
