Art in Transit is a notable undertaking because of the enormous numbers of commuters who will pass by the artworks each day, as they travel to and from the city center on I-235.
Restoration Ingersoll will most likely be the inaugural project for the Foundation to expand its focus beyond the city center. In order to establish a comprehensive public art collection the Foundation will work with community activists to identify suitable locations within defined neighborhood areas throughout the city.
The inclusion of public artworks in these areas will address fundamental components of other well established public art programs. Furthermore, it will introduce works of the imagination to many residents who might not otherwise have an opportunity to interact with or have access to high quality artwork.
