Leadership Grants

The Community Foundation plays a key role in providing significant funding to leadership projects that strengthen Greater Des Moines by proactively responding to community trends and opportunities.  

Leadership Grant Application Cycle

First Cycle: Letter of Intent due on or before 4:00 p.m., April 4, 2012.

Second Cycle: Letter of Intent due on or before 4:00 p.m., October 3, 2012. 

The Community Foundation will notify applicants on the status of their proposals within ten business days after it is received.  Proposals that advance in the process will receive further instructions at that time.  

Leadership Grant Funding Requests

There is no limit on the amount of funding organizations can request. Organizations planning to submit proposals are strongly encouraged to contact Dan Raedeker prior to submitting a request.

Capacity Building Grants

These grants enable nonprofit organizations to strengthen their boards and governance, strategically plan for the future, provide staff training and streamline operations, all while focusing on fulfilling their missions.

Capacity Building Grant Cycle

Capacity Building Grants are given throughout the year and can be requested at any time.

Capacity Building Grant Funding Requests

Grant requests of up to $3,500 will be considered.
